Reno 1868 FC (5-3-5) defeated Oklahoma Energy FC (2-9-1), 2-1 on Saturday. This win extends a franchise record nine match undefeated streak.
Reno struck fast as Defender Zack Carroll scored two minutes into the game off of a corner kick from Jerry van Ewijk. This was Carroll’s first goal as a member of Reno 1868 FC.
Oklahoma City Energy FC responded in the 34th minute. Forward Alex Dixon scored right in front of the goal after receiving a pass from Christian Volesky. The two clubs would go into half time with a draw.
Reno 1868 FC Forward Lindo Mfeka would break the tie with the game’s final goal in the 76th minute following a well placed pass from Defender Brent Richards. This goal was Mfeka’s third of the season and ties him with Danny Musovski for the most goals scored for the 1868 FC.
This is Reno 1868 FC’s fifth win and puts the team into 6th place in the Western Conference with 20 points. The club is currently tied with Orange County SC and is one point ahead of the Swope Park Rangers.
This loss keeps Oklahoma Energy FC near the bottom of the Western Conference with seven points.
Reno 1868 FC’s next match will be at Greater Nevada Field on June 9 at 7:30PM. Reno will be hosting Fresno FC (3-4-6), which is currently in 11th place in the Western Conference with 15 points.
